“This guy is the best plastic surgeon in NYC without being fluffy about it. You wont get any BS from him. He’s a straight shooter that wont try to sell you and only be honest and upfront. Being a new Yorker, that’s what I need and love! My results from a nose job are amazing! 3 months out and although im still swollen I am already so happy with the results! His staff is diverse and fantastic! truly love them. His office manager is so cool and friendly that I feel like I’m friends with her. She’s even ON CALL! he was responsive and caring. I love that my office visits don’t take longer than an hour from start to finish. Ive been in doctors offices for hours but not here. One of the best experiences I’ve ever had with a plastic surgeon and I wouldn’t change a thing! Love them!” ~RealSelf
The NYC Rhinoplasty Plastic Surgeon is Board Certified and committed to creating well-balanced aesthetically pleasing nasal contours that fit the patient’s face proportionately and appear ultimately natural. Contemporary advancements in Rhinoplasty (nose job) plastic surgery are focused on reshaping the nose and providing the proper structure and proportion to the nose as opposed to outdated techniques which aimed at ultimately reducing the amount of bone and cartilage present. Some of the plastic surgeon’s patients, for example, may require surgically altering the tip of the nose (in the case of a drooping nose) or may require the addition of cartilage to increase the projection of the nose (if the nose is flat and lack prominence).
At the time of your complimentary rhinoplasty consultation with board certified plastic surgeon, Douglas M. Senderoff, MD, FACS, he will personally take as much time as needed to properly evaluate your nose ad specific goals (desired results) and discuss the type of surgical methodology he recommends in proceeding with.
The Manhattan Plastic Surgeon has the most advanced computer imaging system now available in his Park Avenue Manhattan, NYC office so you can view before and after photos of how you would look like with various nose reshaping methods. Using the Vectra 3-D computer imaging system allows patients to view the simulated results of rhinoplasty surgery immediately in 360-degree views. You can even take the print-outs home with you to contemplate your options (if elected).
A variety of changes to the nose can be made using computer software so patients can understand the possible outcomes of surgical techniques such as increasing tip projection, reducing the “bony hump”, narrowing the nose, or improving your nose’s tip definition. Contemporary plastic surgeons such as Douglas Senderoff. MD, FACS are concerned with the structural balance of the nose and for this reason, patients need to be informed how the plastic surgeon intends to approach their surgery and what type of result they can realistically expect. Using a 3-D computer for rhinoplasty imaging allows patients to review before and after photos and by spending time listening during your consultation and asking as many questions that you may have to feel comfortable. The NYC Rhinoplasty Plastic Surgeon is effective in understanding the goals and expectations of his patients.
The rhinoplasty surgical procedure is performed by board certified plastic surgeon Douglas M. Senderoff, MD, FACS at his fully accredited outpatient surgery facility located on Park Avenue South in Manhattan, NY.
The procedure may be performed under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia depending on the extent of the surgery for your custom case. The type of anesthesia will be discussed with you prior to your surgery and you have multiple options which will be discussed during your complimentary consultation.
There are two commonly practiced approaches to rhinoplasty plastic surgery which include the “endonasal approach” and the “open approach”. In the endonasal approach to rhinoplasty, the incisions are made in the lining of the nostrils and therefore there are no visible scars. This surgical approach has various limitations in that the plastic surgeon is unable to visualize the nasal structures and cannot easily shape the cartilage of the tip of the nose with this technique (if your requirement is nasal tip adjustment). The endonasal approach is typically used in patients with a minor “bony hump” who do not require major nasal tip work. The open rhinoplasty approach involves making a fine incision in the columella which is located on the bridge of skin between the nostrils. This incision is joined with the internal nostril incisions to expose the bony cartilaginous framework of the nose. This exposure allows the plastic surgeon to carefully reconstruct nasal tip cartilage. Cartilage can actually be added or sculpted and the nasal tip can be worked on with this technique.
Ultimately after the rhinoplasty procedure, the plastic surgeon’s patients are instructed to keep their head elevated and to avoid strenuous and rigorous activities. Nasal packing is not usually used anymore with contemporary techniques so patients should be comfortable after surgery.
Bruising and swelling are completely normal after rhinoplasty. Some patients may experience bruising under the eyes for several days but this again varies from case to case. Pain medication and may be prescribed but most of the doctor’s patients find this unnecessary (the pain is not intense) and simply ice their nose for a short amount of time and originally take homeopathic Arnica Montana pellets and use Arnica Montana cream (which will be furnished to your from the plastic surgeon).
After the splint is removed the nose may still appear swollen and it is completely normal to be slightly swollen for several weeks (but not in an unsightly manner and usually it is only you and Dr. Senderoff that will notice this). While the surgical changes in the nasal profile will be immediately visually obvious, the surgical altercations to the nasal tip may not be fully visible for several months – this of course varies from case to case.
During the months after rhinoplasty plastic surgery, it is imperative for patients to keep their postoperative visits so they can be evaluated by Dr. Senderoff in regards to their healing process.
